Not only will Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, the remake of the classic Bioware RPG, have online co-op play, but the online co-op can be enjoyed crossplatform. In other words, players can do some co-op between PC, iPad, Android, or Mac.

According to developer Trent Oster in a tweet, "#bgee will have co-op multiplayer and will work across platforms. iPad can play with Android, Mac and PC. On happy gaming family."

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is due to be released on the 18th September.

I think this is a wee bit expansive for a graphics mod, a bug overhaul and continuation of fan-based updates and only for the first game. I still want to see more actual game-play to see if it is worth dishing up the cash for - considering you get every Baldursgate there is on gog.com for that - and well, you need to spend 15 minutes downloading mods and a few fan-based patches.

Good one Lich:)
Vet you missed a gaming milestone, as now being spoilt by BioWare's simple conversation list (now a wheel) and Bethesda's shiny-faced conversations the reams of text with "BG II" can become tiresome for all but the hardcore RPG enthusiast.
I agree Wolfy..."BG 3" would have been more welcome and would have sold millions of units I'd predict.

well they are similiar games both from black isle studios :P tho i must say the UI from icewind dale 2 was way better for me :P

it had a bit of a steep learning curve when i first started i wasn't so sure what for what and what to do :P couldn't win the bossfight becuuz of that tho on the second run when i had the idea of what to do i won eventually XD great games tho great replayebility even now i could go for another run at it also you keep the chars in an export/import list =)

I remember when "BG II" was first released (bloody great big box that it shipped in), and while the official reviews were strong (mostly 9's and "GOTY" labelling) non D&D gamers weren't so sure. It was a difficult game to come to grips with initially and party control was glitched. Then the expansion pack came out ("Throne of Bhaal") howver it wasn't as warmly received by the media nor gamers alike. By the time "Child of Bhaal" completed the set most gamers had moved on.

I'd like to re-visit the game, though not at a steep price as I didn't really get into the "Icewind Dale" series, nor "Planescape Torment" (too much into RTS by then).

Well, I hold the Baldurs Gate series and Planscape Torment as the best RPG games on computers of all times - still - it is dated and in need of some love. The system - you either like it or you don't - not much to do really.

Icewind Dale was a great game but here it was plagued with StarForce - so my CD drive crashed... Icewind Dale 2 had some serous bugs, aging engine and halfway to 3rd edition. Temple of Elemental Evil was better that way for rules 3rd edition - but same again - game breaking bugs...

Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 can still make me moist in the eyes and BG2 was my first reason to join a forum back in the days...
