Publisher Arktos Entertainment Group has reported that the zombie apocalypse MMO shooter The War Z attracted over 100,000 registrants for the closed beta in just 24 hours on the 19th July.

According to The War Z senior game designer Eric Nordin, "We've been following all of the comments on the various forums as well as our Facebook page and it really validates that we're creating something that gamers want to play. We're going to continue working hard and make sure we deliver the best game possible!"

The publisher also announced that the official website for developer Hammpoint's MMO was launched here. The game is due to be released in Fall 2012 on PC.

Damn, I missed it.
It's not like fall 2012 is too far away or anything :).

This is looking great, they got a lot of their thunder taken by a mod but they are a lot further in the development process so they are actually ahead.

I don't see it anywhere on the site, all I see is a pre-order offer.

If you click on the preorder offer, you don't preorder - you enter in your email to register.

Who knows, perhaps we could get a Strategy Informer survival group if enough of us make it into the beta :)
