As an avid naval warfare historian and gamer I will just have to check this out. Despite the graphical improvements though, it had better be good to best "Navy Field".

Better get ready to see ww1 ships fighting those from ww2 and ships form ww2 to be fighting ships from the 60's.

At least that that's how their tank and plane games are like, and I see no indication that this game is gonna be any different.

I know what you're saying nocc, but that's okay. Most nations had WWI-era warships from the start of the 1930's and well into the 1940's, aside from Germany and Japan that had modernised their navies. GB had abied by the agreement to naval warships limits as can readily seen by the odd looking HMS Nelson and the very lighly armoured HMS Hood, the most modern of Britain's warships along with Prince of Wales (Germany totally ignored it, and everyone let them).
Into the 1960's you still had many warships from WWII, with a few advancements. USS NEW Jersey, for example was virtually the same battleship as it was when it rolled out in 1943 when it was around for the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Have to play to find out how it all balances, but I'll bet there'll be many a "Navy Field" player jumping into this, and those guys do not mess around. Hopefully a lot of guys from the SubSim forums will give it a go as well, and if it is shonky then they'll be the first to decry the imbalances (very loudly, I might add).

Well to be honest it wasn't the matchmaking that ruined WoT for me, at least it wasn't the main source of the frustrations.

WoT is a stat based MMO disguised as an action game. Your hits randomly don't do damage multiple times in a row, you miss clear shots multiple times in a row...

I really hope that this game is not gonna be like that but i doubt it.

I already put in my beta registration for this as the whole naval scene really appeals to me. I'm hoping it doesn't become strictly stat based, as that would ruin the fun of it for me. Besides, I haven't had a good semi-mordern warship game since the Great Naval Battles series.

Then you really must pick up "Pacific Storm: Allies", Longs. It is a mix of "Great Naval battles", "Taskforce 1942" and "Pacific Air War" combined with the strategy map of a "Total War" game. I wrote a lengthy review of the first "Pacific War" title and they published it on their webiste (no royalties bugger it). Should be on SI....let me look....

Oh that looks great! I will have to try that out. I loved Pacific Air War as well and seeing that this game takes the best of GNB and PAW, I'm getting it on steam ASAP. Thanks Herod! :D

No probs mate, I hope you enjoy it. Just be sure to get "PS: Allies" as it has all of the orignal's content PLUS GB and Germany (take the Prince of Wales and Hood into action against the Bismark and Prince Eugen:d).

All three games will share the same economy, for one.

I'm waiting for the World of Warmen. It would be both hilarious and annoying to see how one player fired a shotgun pellet in some guy's chest at point blank that didn't do sh*t to it's target.

That already happens in "BF3", Gale - unfortunately. I've stood emptying a whole magazine into the chest of a foe while they've responded, perhaps up to a second later with a two second burst. I've gone down (staring at the killcam incredulously) while they gleefully hump off looking for more easy victims.
Such an unbalanced product still. Makes me less than enthusiastic about "BF4".

or like in COD modern warfare 2 have a shotgun mounted on ur FN fal and snipe someone death with it...

then you have devs saying but people said the shotgun was overpowered and so on... tss yeah can't help but say true but that is the shotgun any close quarter the shotgun wins all normally

you should have had a cheese holed body it should have been insta kill
