Doom 3 BFG Edition
At an interview at QuakeCon 2012, id co-founder John Carmack stated that Doom 4 has no set release date, that it'll get a release date when the developer is ready to release it. Essentially, "done when it's done."

Carmack did reveal that development on Doom 4 has intensified, as teams have been pulled off their own mobile projects to help out with the game.

"Essentially everybody will be focused on Doom 4," revealed Carmack, who then added, "I hope that we do get back to mobile in various ways in the future, but the real aim is blockbuster triple-A titles, and for Id that means Doom 4."

In other Doom news, Bethesda posted a new trailer for the bonus "Lost Missions" levels that will be included in Doom 3 BFG Edition, which is due to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on the 16th October.

I do not yet see the difference in the BFG Edition, as I was hoping for a bit of a graphics update.

News about DOOM IV is great. That is still one game I am looking forward to. I know that some will disagree, but that is their opinion.

The graphic upgrades are more subtle than that. It's a lot better than the original Doom 3. Also, 8 new levels.

Lost count of the number of mods I used in "Doom 3" to improve it's gameplay, so I do hope Carmack and his team look hard at what community complained about most with "D3" (the flashlight being a sore point and a bone of contentious debate even now).
"Quake 5", where are you?

This BFG edition, I will buy. I tried to play the original Doom 3 but couldn't cope with the god forsaken flashlight mechanic. Aside from that, I loved the atmosphere but felt the game was a tad bit too dark.
This is the perfect opportunity to immerse myself into the Doom universe.

@HenoKutus: I have to agree with you. I have been awaiting a remake of at least Heretic for years now, but it seems to me that the game wasn't as popular otherwise a remake would've been out by now.

I probably would get the BFG Edition, since I am a major DOOM fan... but we will just have to wait and see. Eight new levels to DOOM will give me a new experience, as there is very little I don't know about DOOM 3. I even found the secret chamber which isn't difficult but also easy to miss.

Changing the subject on DOOM, when in the world do they plan on continuing the Quake saga? Quake IV just ended, giving you the idea that something is coming, but we have no clue as to what.
