Report: Mafia 3 in development for next Xbox and PlayStation 4

It seems 2K Czech are muscling in for their cut of the next-gen console pie, as the studio are busy with Mafia 3. It was to be a launch title but will likely miss that window, says a report.

Apparently 2K Czech are short staffed and need more made-men to pad the offices. Rumour has it the team were assisting Rockstar with GTA V, and being helped to 'grow Mafia' further.

Around 40 members of staff were lost at 2K Czech last year and they're still reeling from the reduction as Mafia III falls 'behind schedule' as it misses becoming a launch title.

This report comes from Eurogamer.cz with 2K Czech yet to offer comment. Microsoft nor Sony have yet to announce their next-gen platforms but industry insiders are pointing toward a late 2013 retail window. More is 'known' about Microsoft's next Xbox console than that of Sony's future PlayStation designs.

Mafia was a brilliant game for its time, the second one was average at best. I hope they're aiming for something grander with the third one.

Haven`t gotten to play the first one but i didn`t like the second,escpecially the story,i hated it,the ending is really bad add that to a mediocre game in general and you have a sub-par product.

I enjoyed the first one for a while, but didn't bother with the second, being a multi-platform port. Same goes with this one as there doesn't appear to be anything new really being brought to the table (no new graphics engine, no unique motion capture, no IMax vistas...).

I would guess that they are making a new engine for the new consoles, no reason they'd miss the launch day otherwise.

Have to agree, the first one was absolutely brilliant at the time but the second one was very forgettable.
A friend just walked in right now and he said "...wouldn't care if they never even made the second one", I feel the same.

Mods aren't released by SI but are uploaded by modders then made available by SI. If there's one in particular you're looking for here and it's not here, chances are it doesn't exist or you'll need to google it as it might exist on the modder's home page.
As for the trailer...that's all there is. No other official trailer now exists.
