Silent Hill HD Collection 360 patch snafu leads to free game

Konami is apologizing for not releasing a patch for the Xbox 360 version of Silent Hill HD Collection by offering a free game to owners of the title, provided they kept their receipts.


According to a post on the official Facebook page, "Please send your receipt to Konami Customer Service for verification and further details on how to exchange your product. This offer is only valid for Silent Hill HD Collection (Xbox 360 version) games purchased on or before 08.08.2012. All requests must be made in writing and submitted on or before 10.07.2012 and is subject to availability. Any inquiries received after this date will not fall under this exchange program. This offer valid for purchases made in North and South America."

This does nothing for people who bought the game after the 7th October, nor does it help future purchasers of the product.

I'm used to freebies offered by way of apology to PS3 owners but it's rare to see the same for XBox. However, most won't have their receipts (no doubt Konami is counting on that) and as you say Jonah, it doesn't help anyone who falls outside of their strict parameters.
So pretty poor show overall.

Sounds like the nonsense Kalypso is offering by way of compensation for the dreadful (some say "fraudulent" and "scandalous") state that "Legends of Pegasus" has been released in. The Devs say they'll be offering some form of free compensation in a week, when most gamers just seem to want a refund.

C'mon, "ES" walks all over "LoP" (then again, so would "Soldier of Fortune: Payback" and that's saying something). "ES" received 9/10 from "PC Powerplay" here and their scores are generally pretty spot on.
You've got a soft spot for Kalypso, I've noticed Jonah. Well, I'm not so enamoured of them and even less so after this debacle. Even "Tropico 3", much as I tried to enjoy it can't match the "Anno" series.

Tropico 3 has as much in common with Anno as SimCity with Europa Universalis. Two completely different kinds of games.

Well the city expansion side to "Anno", particularly "1701 A.D." and it's crop and industriey building for me is very much along the lines of "Tropico 3". They are different granted, but I wouldn't say they are wildly polar opposites as the examples you give Jonah.
What, for example would you compare "Tropico 3" with?
