Valve has banned a popular Defense of the Ancients 2 weapon that was created using the Steam Workshop because the assets were stolen from the MMO Aion, and has issued a warning to respect other developers' intellectual property.
The Timebreaker mace was one of the most popular items in DOTA2, purchased by 25K users, but when Valve discovered its origins, the publisher pulled it immediately.
Players were given a replacement weapon with the same stats and abilities, while the person who sold the item was banned and barred from ever seeing the money he earned from the item sales. One wonders if Valve kept all of the money to themselves.
