Developer Spooky Squid has announced that their bloody arcade platformer They Bleed Pixels will not be released on Xbox Live Indie Game Marketplace, but will be released on Steam instead, compolete with leaderboards, achievements and cloud saves.

The reason is simple: the indie game has grown in scope and assets to the point where a Steam release is more feasible and profitable.

According to creative director Miguel Sternberg, "Throughout development other game developers and players have told us that the game really deserves to reach a larger audience and the move to PC and Steam will do just that."

"For those waiting for the release date we're very close to being able to announce it. We're just finishing up sound and squashing a few pesky bugs. It's been a busy year and I think players will really appreciate the additional content and polish."

They Bleed Pixels can best be described as a cross between Dario Argento's thriller Suspiria and the XBLA favorite Super Meat Boy. Spooky Squid released a new trailer showing off gameplay for the title headed to Steam.
