One of the biggest complaints of Battlefield 3 gamers has been that with all the renting of servers, trying to get onto official servers has been difficult, especially for console gamers. DICE has expanded the number of servers by a factor of four in an attempt to rectify this for console users.

According to a statement by the developer, "We have heard your wish for more official DICE servers. As of now, we have effectively quadrupled them on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Note that you will still be able to get quick matched into any ranked server. For the best results if you want an official DICE server, please refer to the manual server browser and enter 'DICE' as a search term. If you go to the Server information screen, all official DICE servers will have the owner set to 'DICE'. Remember that you can favourite servers that you like so you can easily find them again on your next session."

Gamers can thank themselves for the server increase, thanks to the massive influx of cash from Battlefield Premium subscriptions.

Took them long enough but here comes the obvious question, what about the PC?

PC is different. They'll probably allow trusted sites to host open ranked games. Consoles need DICE to add servers. PC only needs DICE to talk to, say, GameSpy or IGN, to host ranked games.

Last time I heard servers were an issue on the PC as well, I think hero said that. I don't have the game so i would not really know myself.

The issue with servers on the PC, Geisha (hehe) is that they are run by dickheads who kick you if you do something they don't like (eg. killing them or their mates). Servers need to be run by Dice or EA not rented to dickheads. Basically why I won't play anymore. Either I'm kicked for playing better than the the host, or the server is run by a group of cheaters who play together (or cheat together I should say).
Wankers playing a wank game.
The ones that are run properly you get disconnected from reguarly and this is something Dice and EA have never fixed.
