Activision Blizzard revenues down as CoD and WoW shrink

Activision Blizzard's financial report for Q2 2012 was published last night. Both Call of Duty and World of Warcraft revenue has taken a hit.

With that said, Skylanders and Diablo has provided a financial boost.

Revenues across the company's business for the first half of FY 2012 were down by 6.8 per cent to €1.731 billion, compared to €1.857 billion for the first half of FY 2011.

Quarterly sales were up year on year, with a gain of €41 million bringing in €837 compared to €796 last year.

According to the currency rate, this indicates a 6.2 per cent shrinkage.

EBITA, the closest the company comes to publishing raw net profit figures, also posted shrinking figures. €331 million is down to €177 million for the quarter. It also dropped in a six month comparison, €833 to €572 million.

I wonder how long it will take before Blizzard makes WoW f2p... bold thing to say, but sooner or later, I am sure that it will become f2p.

The game is now shrinking, and eventually people aren't going to want to pay anymore.

This must be one of the reasons Mists of Pandaria is priced as a full title game.

yeah blizzard is going for a desperate attempt to make their renevues up again with an overpriced expansion but the game is aging and its satrting to take its toll as a subsciption game...

as for COD well we all know why is that ^^

but on the no game lives forever count try halo 1 combat evolved i still find full servers :p
