Blizzard launches beta for Starcraft 2: Heart of Swarm

Blizzard has launched the beta mode for Starcraft 2: Heart of Swarm, although this multiplayer-only test will initially be limited to a select group of pro-gamers, journalists, arcade contest winners, and shoutcasters.

Beta test participants are not under an NDA, so we should start seeing more content like screenshots and videos soon. Live streams of matches will also be a possibility.

It won't be long before other Starcraft 2 players are invited to join the beta, but you'll need to make sure you're opted in to receive an invite. You can do this on Battle.net.

Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm hasn't been given a release date yet, but we should expect to see it complete by the end of the year or at least early Q1 2013.

It seems like the graphics has changed.

Honestly, I don't want them to change the multiplayer too much. At the moment things are just fine for me, but I am quite positive that some units might be removed, and new ones added.

In any event, I am sure Blizzard will keep the game balanced, and listen to what their fans have got to say.

Change is good, keeps the game fresh ^^

I'm planning to pick up the game myself now, having just played the free version for a bit. It is better than I thought it'd be.

And might I take this opportunity to suggest probing Blizzard for possible freebies? Needless to say, if you could give away a few copies of Heart of the Swarm, that would get you a LOT of traffic. Even if it's just a couple digitals.

I have no personal reason to ask for this whatsoever....honest ^^
