Notch may start over on space sim 0x10c because it's

Markus "Notch" Persson has announced during an interview with the Penny Arcade Report that he may be starting over on his far future space sim 0x10c, stating that the game is simply "not fun".

According to Notch, I might possibly start over, because it feels like its not fun. The stuff youre actually doing. If its not fun to walk around the spaceship then the game isnt fun. So I need to figure that out and try to, not necessarily gamify, but add more instant gratification.

The game does have a working physics engine and room builder in place.

Notch also revealed in an interview with Penny Arcade that he may begin a Minecraft-style alpha release in early 2013, and players being charged 5 euro per month to subscribe to the multiverse multiplayer mode post-release.

I always miss my terms, but Im hoping to get something done in like six months, he explained, where people can actually play it without the multiverse and everything, preferably even sooner. It depends on how into the flow I get.

€5 per month seems like a lot to be playing a barebones alpha build, I have to say. I'd be quite surprised if a lot of people went for that deal.

5€ per month is 60€ in a year, a price of a finished game, ouch. A bit too much for my tastes as well.

I meant there's not even any guarantee that there will BE a finished product, let alone that the alpha would be enjoyable in the first place. who wants to pay for the privilege of bug-testing?

I personally think Notch may be overestimating people's desire to give him money. (A perfectly understandable mistake seeing how well minecraft worked I guess)

It's not for the alpha. It's for post-release to support the servers.

Mmmm, alright then. That's my mistake :/
