An incredibly adorable project to get Grand Theft Auto 2 working in the mighty RAGE engine, the very same tech powering Grand Theft Auto IV, has horrifically been denied us as it was canned.

Still, gameplay footage of this stellar feat has surfaced. It shows the traditional top down view but also switches to third-person, bringing a whole new level (literally) to the GTA classic.

The project seems to have stalled and then fell by the wayside. You can immediately see GTA IV's influence at third-person, as well as see how low those clearances are.
