2K Games has announced the system specs for developer Firaxis' reboot of the classic strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Fortunately, the recommended requirements are fairly light, so players with low-end machines should be able to handle the game, provided their rig is a dual-core system.

The biggest stumbling block - at least for 24% of PC users - is that Windows XP will not be supported.

Minimum Requirements:

* OS: Windows Vista
* Software: Steam Client
* Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core
* Memory: 2 GB RAM
* Hard Drive: 20 GB free
* Video Memory: 256 MB
* Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT/ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT or greater
* Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended Requirements:

* OS: Windows 7
* Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.7 GHz)
* Memory: 4 GB RAM
* Hard Drive: 20 GB free
* Video Memory: 512+ MB
* Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9000 series/ATI Radeon HD 3000 series or greater
* Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is due to be released on the 9th October 2012 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Calling the requirements "fairly light" is an understatement. This is super low, which doesn't make a lot of sense when Win XP that is most likely to run on such machines is not supported.

Sounds very much like graphics and engine is a multiplatform sollution and that gives an easy to run end product. As long as the gui is PC optimized - no problem.
