The ultimate price in The War Z: losing items you paid real-money for

The open world zombie apocalypse MMO The Day Z is making the risky move of making it possible to lose items purchased with real cash permanently.

According to Hammerpoint Interactive's public relations manager Alex Josef, "Yes, you’ll lose what you have in your backpack when you die – both in Normal and Hardcore modes. And yes, if you bought something using real money, you’ll lose that item as well. This is a price you’ll have to pay.

"We’ve discussed that a lot and at the end decided that this will provide a pretty good incentive for players to either be extra cautious while playing, or just not spend too much money in the game and, instead, try to procure all items by finding them in the game world."

It sounds more like extra incentive for griefing and player-killing. Let us know what you think.

Ehmmmmmmmm....this seems questionable at best

I mean they're basically giving people a pretty important reason NOT to spend money on their game? This must be that alternate reality where that's good bussiness!

I don't get it either, I'd never buy something I could lose in the very next encounter.
