MGM has announced that it will be picking up the screen rights to Russian sci-fi novel Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky, which is the basis for the videogame of the same name.

The film is being produced by Mark Johnson, who produced GalaxyQuest and the Narnia films. It is being penned by F. Scott Frazier, who is currently the screenwriter for action film Light of Sight and sci-fi flick Day One.

Metro 2033 was released March 2010 for PC and Xbox 360.

This should be interesting. I found the Metro 2033 game quite interesting, and would love to see more.
