Scientists create Unreal Tournament-playing A.I that is indistinguishable from humans

Scientists at Austin University of Texas have created artificial intelligence that fooled a panel of judged into thinking it was human.

The winners of 2K's Botprize, which tasked competitors to create the most human-like A.I, came from computer intelligence created for Unreal Tournament 2004. UT^2 and Mirrorbot were crowned victors.

Both winners split the $7000 prize after battling it out on a half-human/half-A.I game of UT. Each player had to take the opposition as either human or robot. The bots that were tagged human most often were the winners.

No excuse for any upcoming FPS, then...

Impressive.

But you're still playing against an AI so it doesn't feel any good, unless you're tricked into thinking you're playing other people.
