Rumour: XCOM is now a downloadable third-person shooter

Remember XCOM? No, not XCOM: Enemy Unknown. 2K were working on another XCOM title, but progress has remained extremely quiet. A Kotaku reader might have the answer for such silence.

An individual who took part on a recent survey has sent screenshots of what is claimed to be XCOM's new look. If true, the game has developed into a third-person shooter that is based on squad commands.

The screens aren't particularly high-spec, indicating this could be a downloadable title. A question on the survey also asked how players would feel if it was available through digital download.

Either way, 2K has understandably noted it won't comment on the matter.

And this would mean "what" to the finished game? Downloaded game is somehow cheaper or the same?
Squad tactical shooter is a better way than the FPS shooter - but still feels a bit iffy...
