Borderlands 2's first downloadable class, Gaige the Mechromancer, is set to release a week early.

The DLC was originally expected on October 16, but it should be live today.

"So – here’s the surprise, Mechromancer for Borderlands 2 is ready about a week earlier than I promised. October 9, all platforms," Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford said on Twitter.

"Should be available for download on all platforms by the end of the day."

The DLC will cost $9.99/£7.99/800 MSP unless you pre-ordered the game, in which case it is free.

Let us know what you think of the new class once it's available.

That's seems a bit much for just a new class.
They all use guns and have only one single special ability that differentiates them.

Have to agree Noc,as TB said, there`s not that much of a difference between classes, only the special ability.I`m not getting this unless they cut the price,i enjoy the game a lot, many improvements have been made over the original but the characters still have the same problem, there`s barely any difference between them.

great to have new classes in Borderlands 2 but i think $9.99 is too expensive for just 1 class.
