Arena Net has announced new Halloween-themed content that will debut on the 22nd October for their subscription-less MMO Guild Wars 2 on their official blog.

The update includes the following content:

Halloween
Halloween is coming! Festivities are afoot, and Tyria will be transformed with decorations, new mini-games, new dynamic events, and more. Despite the celebrations there are those who dread the coming of Halloween and all that it may bring, for it is the time of year when barriers between the realms are weakest. Be prepared for an epic adventure in four acts starting October 22 and running until October 31.

Black Lion Trading Company

Never one to miss out on an opportunity, Evon Gnashblade has stocked all new items at the Black Lion Trading Company, including Halloween costumes and new transforms that will allow you to play Costume Brawl with fellow costumed players.

PvP Paid Tournaments
Paid tournaments will be available for competitive, five-person teams. These tournaments require tickets to enter and give better prizes than normal tournaments. Participating teams will earn qualifier points that will allow them to compete in future, larger tournaments. Tournament tickets can be earned from winning normal tournaments or purchased in the Gem Store.

Tyria Evolving
The world continues to evolve with new events, jumping puzzles, bosses, mini-dungeons, and achievements appearing across a variety of maps.

Guild Wars 2 was released on the 28th August and earned a 9.5/10 score in Strategy Informer's review.

I haven't got it yet either, I've got still a long way to go in Lotro before I start playing another MMO.

I am not playing any MMO's at the moment, but I am still not in the mood for this game yet. MMO's and I aren't the best of friends.

i was looking forward to this game, then lost intereest only to get it up again and then to lose it. The latest I read was that the main thing seems to be the PVP not PVE - and I play only for PVE so...

Still, GW had great season happenings and themes that always was fun to play!

If that's true I'm not interested anymore either, PVE for me all the way.

Don't take my word for it but ask someone that plays the game. There is of course a PVE part - but in some ofthe Swedish forums and game sties I have read a lot of critique vs the PVE part and that the events are open free for all parts and since I like to play in a smaller close knit group and not that into MMORPG's to begin with - sounded like I should spend time and money elsewhere...

Well as someone who plays the game, let me say so far there is so much to do in PvE I have not had time to PvP much. There are 8 dungeons each with 3 paths of explore mode and a story mode for a total of 32 different experiences from those 8 dungeons. As well the dungeons are some of the more challenging mmo encounters I have been in so far. I have tried the world v world PvP and it is pretty epic and thus I feel commanding a lot of the communities attention.

Wanted to add, this game is the most feature rich and complete MMO at launch that there has ever been and I have played damn near every MMO.

How's the PvE if you want to play a small group? How would that work in GW2?

My attention also lies with PvE... but I have a friend who plays the game, and he is completely addicted to it. I will ask him about the PvE in the game and hear what he has got to say.

Not entireley sure what you seek so I'll go over the basics.

Group max size is 5. What is awesome about the game is the way they do questing. There is no quest log, oh can't share this cause you didn't do the earlier quest and so on. What they have are quest areas. On any map there are about 10 areas where thing need doing. They are represented by en empty heart that will become full when done. The areas have multiple things that need done. It my say, kill undead, repair defenses, heal soldiers, etc. As you do the things you get completion points to it, do enough you complete, fill the heart and get bonus exp and money, Whether you are grouped or not, if you hit the mob, clicked on the clickable whatever, you get credit.

Around these quest areas are events. Some are every 15 minutes, some are every 3 hours. Events are a little harder, but scale to the number of people that are involved, reward well and are repeatable. Again, you do not have to be grouped to participate. This makes for a great community where people pitch in and help each other instead of racing to get the credit for themselves.

Next, your level is adjusted according to where you are standing, literally. If you are level 63 but go to a noob zone, you will be level 4, 6, 9 or whatever that area of the zone caps at. You will get exp as well and it does scale to the real level you are. Completing an event in a noob zone at 80 gives me 2.5k exp where at 4 I get 320. So if you play for a few weeks get high level then a friend joins, go to a noob area you haven't done, play with them with no worries of any imbalance or wasted time.

Resource nodes, visible to everyone and everyone gets their own draw from them, so no competition. Dungeons start at level 30. There is a story quest line for each player that can be done solo or grouped and has about 35 quests from 1 to 80 involved in it. Can't think of what else to say so feel free to ask questions.

OK. thank you for the insight darranged :)
My reason for asking is that my wife wants to play the game and she really like the first GW game - but the notion of having a lot of characters running around on the screen is something she isn't keen on - so my small aprty notion - if we are grouped uyp to 5 people - we will still see and be able to interact with other players in these areas of questing?

yes. It is not like GW1 in the aspect of instances, only the dungeons act that way.
