Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus users will get to try out PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale first-hand this week as they launch its beta. Those of the Plus group begin October 17th.

The beta extends to everyone October 24th through the new PlayStation Store. If you've got a PS Vita then multiplayer beta begins tomorrow - no Plus sub required. Sony list restrictions.

As it's only a beta there will be limits on content. Fighters that we can choose from include Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, PaRappa and Fat Princess.

We only get to battle on the Metropolis and Hades stages, and you get to try out 4-player online tournaments and 2 vs 2 tournies. You can issue friend invites for the 2 vs 2 matches. "This, of course, is only a tiny fraction of what PlayStation All-Stars has to offer, but we thought you’d love the chance to try it early and see what all the buzz is about," said Sony.

The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta wraps up October 30th. For those who pre-order there will also be some exclusive character costumes. For more details visit the EU PlayStation.Blog.
