Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has confirmed that there will be an expansion for Diablo III coming. He announced this during the Activision-Blizzard investor call covering the fiscal quarter ending on the 30th September.

According to Morhaime, the expansion is currently being planned. There is no release date set, but the CEO did state that the top priorities for the expansion are the gameplay and its overall quality.

Knowing Blizzard, that means the developer will be adopting the "it'll be done when it's done" attitude towards the expansion.

Well, can't say I'm the least bit enthusiastic over this. Diablo III was a big let down. Only sad that I didn't follow my gut reaction and skipped it entirely.

I decided to buy the game after patch 1.0.4 and I'm enjoying it a lot. I know the first months after launch the game had some serious issues (and maybe still has). If I had bought it sooner I can image to be as let down as you are, but thank god my thesis prevented me from gaming back than! :)

I also can't really say that I am excited. I love the game, and spent plenty of hours on it, and will do so again, but I am not as excited as I was before.

Good for you Caedes - I found some solace in Torchlight 2 - a game that actually put "fun" back into a game...
