Composer Jesper Kyd who has produced quite the resume in terms of scores for video games judges what projects he'll work on if it grants opportunity to "create something original, not who's developing it."

Having said that though he'd "love to work with BioWare" once again, having partnered with them for MDK2. Kyd also said he was "humbled" by the "overwhelming reception" to his Assassin's Creed II score.

Ubisoft's follow up was a "unique and special" game that led him to create "a memorable score". It's "great to see how our ideas continue to be a part of the franchise."

Jesper Kyd was speaking with OPM about the highlights of his musical career within the industry. "I’ve been fortunate to work with so many great developers and publishers,” he said. "However, I select projects based on if I find them interesting and feel it gives me the opportunity to create something original, not who’s developing it."

"Though I would love to work with Bioware again," admits Kyd.

Assassin's Creed II seems to be his greatest achievement so far. “Well, the overwhelming reception to the Assassin’s Creed 2 score was awesome. I was humbled to see everyone embrace this music. It was a unique and special game, and I think we created a memorable score that’s become very popular with the fans."

Kyd was in for a surprise when his work on Hitman: Contracts got noticed: “Being recognised by Bafta for my Hitman: Contracts score was a surprise – particularly because the other nominees were big-budget, traditional-sounding orchestral scores, so it was really great to see people respond to this different type of score."

“I think it showed that you don’t just have to have a big orchestra to connect with people. Darksiders II has definitely been another great experience. I think it’s one of my most ambitious in terms of experimenting with unique sounds.”

Jesper Kyd most recently worked on Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2. His previous works include Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and the excellent Freedom Fighters.
