Hitman: Absolution dev states current gen consoles too limited

Hitman: Absolution art director Roberto Marchesi has stated in an interview with Trusted Reviews that he feels that the current generation of consoles limited the upcoming stealth assassination game.

According to Marchesi, Hitman: Absolution on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 both "show the limitations of the current technology."

Despite this, however, he felt that the limitation also gave the developer a challenge, noting "The first games that will come out for the next generation of consoles will probably be just like an up-scaled version of everything. All the textures will be ramped up twice, the resolution, everything…that’s really just a brute-force approach to making great-looking games, and, in a way, it's much more of a challenge doing it with this current generation."

Hitman: Absolution is due to be released next week on the 20th November for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It can be called brute-forcing but it also opens up options to do new things. I can't imagine good physics in current generation games simply because those old machines are too weak for it.

Well, looking in at the new version that should come out - they are nothing at all as powerfull as the PS3 and Xbox 360 where compared to the PC's of their times. The consoles now will more likely take ann aim at a level already on the market and develop from that - not trying to push the boundaries in the same way.
If that is true - it would mean that the same problems that we have right now will comeback pretty soon - multiplatform developement will be a real hassle and it will either be very good on one platform or a bit bad on all...Especially if they go for graphicsorineted games.

Unfortunately, I've been hearing Hitman: Absolution sucks, and it has nothing to do with graphic limitations.
