CBS Films released a presser announcing that Scott Derrickson will be directing the big screen adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Derrickson's resume includes Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Derrickson is also penning the screenplay with fellow Sinister scribe C. Robert Cargill. Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh are producing, while John P. Middleton exec producing.

Derrickson stated, "Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence. By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can't wait to bring it to the big screen."

It'll be interesting to see how Derrickson handles the exploits of Adam Jensen - it'll be even more interesting to see how the film sets up JC Denton and Deus Ex.

Deus Ex has a certain Blade Runner feel to it so this could turn out OK but considering that most adaptations of this kind suck I'll wait before I start caring about it. A high budget would be an absolute necessity to make it work.

Derrickson did well with "Emily Rose", though this is quite a departure for him. No judgement until the film is previewed, but as long as the casting director's steer clear of that childish wanker Shia Lebeouf (who almost wrecked "Lawless" just by being in it) it should be fine:)

Totally agree, I can't stand that guy for some reason either. Indiana Jones was by no means a serious movie but this guy still didn't fit in, I simply don't understand what people see in him.
