Paradox Interactive have announced the first batch of monthly content for their War of the Roses medieval brawler is coming this week; this Wednesday the 21st to be precise.

The update brings with it new heavy armour, a new helmet, four new visors, and seven new weapons. Fancy Richard Neville's "legendary" Kingmaker sword?

Also introduced is the new game mode 'Pitched Battle' which enters open beta when the monthly content update arrives. This new mode only gives a knight one life per round.

"The update introduces a wealth of new armaments to every knight’s arsenal, including the Kingmaker sword, a finely crafted piece of steel brandished by legendary English nobleman Richard Neville, otherwise known as Warwick the Kingmaker," blurbed Paradox Interactive's press parchment.

"A new suit of heavy armor will also be available to choose with different paint options to customize one’s fearsome look. One new helmet, four new visors, and seven new weapons, including the gothic mace, the halberd, and the horn-spanned crossbow, will also join the fray." Any of the common rabble can join the new Pitched Battle this Wednesday.

"In Pitched Battle, each knight has only one life to risk on the battlefield per round; when a combatant perishes, he cannot return to the fight until the next match. Bandaging one’s wounds and reviving teammates will be crucial to victory, and executing opponents to keep them out of the fight will decide which is the last team standing."

They'll be hosting a live Twitch.tv broadcast this November 21st at 6pm GMT / 10am PST for the update.

Anyone has both this and Chivalry?

I'm kinda interested but I don't really know which one to pick for the holiday sales.

If I had to buy them only for myself perhaps I could afford both but these games are not as fun when played alone so I have to get an extra copy or two for my buddies as well.
Hence waiting for the sales :)

I've got both of them, but I'll defer you to this here video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73Q7FETIxZw

That pretty much sums it up, I personally prefer Chivalry :)

After watching that video I'm leaning towards Chivarly as well, a (relatively) realistic feel of the melee is at the hart of the genre, we get plenty of long range weapons in other games.

"Chivalry" is the one I'm leaning toward as well. Roll on Steam Christmas (Summer) Sales, or Winter Sales if you're in the chilly North.
