2K Sports kill servers for NBA 2K12, College Hoops 2K8 and NHL 2K10

2K Sports seems to have pulled the plug on its old online servers. Users playing All-Pro Football 2K8, NHL 2K10, College Hoops 2K8 and the year-old NBA 2K12 multiplayer have noticed a lack of online support across the last three weeks.

A 2K Customer support representative posted on the official forums:

"As of 11/1/12, all of the 2K Sports servers (with the exception of NBA 2K13 and MLB 2K12) are now offline. We do not have any information that leads us to believe these online features will be turned back on. If you have any questions, please visit the following page:

http://2ksports.com/news//416

Please note that we, here at 2k Sports Customer Support, do not have any further information regarding the status of these servers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Is it a little premature to get rid of last year's NBA 2K12 servers?

That "a little premature" line might be appropriate in bed for example but it's completely off the mark in this case.

Why in the hell would anyone ever again buy one of their games knowing that the game would become useless within a single year?

This is basically an extortion racket forcing you to buy the new version. No excuse for this whatsoever.

I know, it's been like this for some time. 2k have a monopoly on the NBA market atm. They know they can get away with it. People gotta have their hoops. As long as they don't make the game bad I'll still support them. The last 3 years of NBA 2k has been fantastic.
