Namco Bandai is bringing the flight arcade action of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon to PC early next year, with singleplayer, co-op and online dogfights. This is the first time it takes flight on desktops.

They'll also be re-releasing Ace Combat: Assault Horizon digitally via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The PC version is an Enhanced Edition with controls and graphics "optimized specifically".

Many of the DLC goodies released on the consoles versions are also featuring in the Enhanced Edition, with "immediate access" to more aircraft, skins, skills and maps.

Multiplayer will be using Microsoft's Games for Windows Live platform. The PlayStation 3 version also gets exclusive content through its Advanced Edition with "Tokyo and Honolulu maps and additional aircraft including the ASF-X Shinden II, F-15S/MTD, Su-37 Terminator, AV-8B Harrier II plus, CFA-44 Nosferatu , and Ka-50 Hokum."

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon will sell for £15.99 on PSN in the UK, or £23.99 for the Advanced Edition today, November 28th. It's on sale through the Xbox Live Marketplace for £15.99 from December 18th. The PC's Enhanced Edition is tagged at £23.99 and will be available through Steam and other digital stores.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in October 2011.

About bloody time. This is the only series of arcade flight games that has interested me ("H.A.W.X." just tried to emulate it, but after the second title it failed). Good joystick support, and a reasonable price, and I may get into to it as a reprieve from the hardcore "DCS World".
