Ubisoft "very sorry" over PC server issues for Far Cry 3, workaround found

PC gamers who've got their desktop mitts on Far Cry 3 have been experiencing some dastardly trouble in getting to just play their game. The problem lies with Ubisoft's Uplay platform.

Server issues are plaguing the new PC sandbox, with both online and singleplayer directly affected. Fortunately Uplay can be set to work in an offline mode, so the campaign is playable.

"We're very sorry for the server issues affecting Far Cry 3 on PC and are working as fast as possible to restore the service," tweeted Ubisoft as an apology.

Reddit users discovered the fact that Uplay can be told to go offline and so launching Far Cry 3 is fine, but the rather annoying fact is that Uplay by default doesn't tell you that an offline is available if the service is having connection issues. Instead you're left thinking it's completely unplayable until the servers are fixed.

Far Cry 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC today in the UK.

As long as you can play it offline that's perfectly fine, it's already a good sign that they might have learned their lesion when it comes to effects of draconian DRM on player satisfaction.

Apologies don't cut the mustard (or in this case, the cheese). Typical Ubislag shenanigans for a PC launch.

True, it's kinda a tradition by now.
