Footage of Ruffian Games' cancelled Streets of Rage remake has leaked across the Internet. Series fans will recognise the foundations of the game, but a 3D twist makes the formula seem pretty different.

It's difficult to tell whether this is gameplay footage or a pre-rendered video. Ruffian is said to have given up on the project early in its development cycle, as indicated by former level designer Sean Noonan on Twitter:

"So it seems like one of my previous projects has leaked, as pretty as I remember."

Streets of Rage 2 is one of my all-time favourite games. I would suggest any remake should stick to the cheesy, tongue-in-check style rather than focus on a serious beat 'em up. What are your thoughts?
