Namco Bandai has announced the sequel to From Software's brutal fantasy game, Dark Souls II. The game was announced at the Spike Videogame Awards 2012 show.

According to the press release, Dark Souls II is "built upon the foundation established by Souls series creator and Dark Souls II Supervisor, Hidetaka Miyazaki with development helmed by From Software Director Tomohiro Shibuya." The game will debut an all-new hero, storyline and entire new world to explore and survive.

The game will also feature a revamped server-based multiplayer mode which From Software promises will "put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing with others."

The game will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime in 2013. This is the first time that a PC version is planned from the very start.
