Blizzard has Diablo III running on consoles, still not official project

Blizzard hasn't given up hope on bringing Diablo III to consoles. The developer has the game running on this hardware internally, although public release still hangs in the balance.

Jay Wilson, lead designer on the game, suggested the team is looking to work something out in the near future:

"We’ve got builds up and running on it. We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool."

Plans for an expansion were also mentioned, but no date was confirmed.

Good thinking Blizzard!

More like good luck Blizzard. I am a huge Blizzard fan (as well as a Diablo fan) and I felt Diablo III was poorly made, by Blizzard's standards. I prefer StarCraft more, and I lost respect for Blizzard when they came out with StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The gameplay changed. The campaign format was changed. The character profiles (like faces) were different. Voices had changed, too. Overall, I did not like it at all.

My point in this is that Blizzard has declined from being one of the better developers out there in the world. If they get Diablo III onto console, I might check it out. The last console game I remember from Blizzard was StarCraft 64.

Use to be a Blizzard fan, but no more. They are nothing special and "DIII" is a FAIL for me. Good luck on the console, and get back to work on "Warcraft IV" you sloths.

I'm off and on. It's like an unstable, insecure girlfriend; some days I like Blizzard, others I deliberately avoid it.

I still support Blizzard and love their games, but I lost a ton of respect for them. I love Starcraft and consider it to be their best game. Starcraft II for me is outstanding, and I play online competitively. Diablo III is also great, but I also feel that some things came short, though I still enjoy it.

World of Warcraft... got it, but not the greatest fan of it. Also looking forward to a Warcraft IV.

They take a long time to develop a game however they have released Diablo for the PSX in the day, they should release a trilogy!

I liked SCII as well, though it was nowhere near as good as I expected. StarCraft and Brood War are still in the top two spots, in my opinion.

They don't need to try it out mre - the game was console ready from teh start of PC release ;)
Diablo III and Star Craft 2 both missed the mark IMO. Blizzards hard hat online always and only is also missing the mark. On consoles - sure - had they had a release date for D3 at the time they released on PC I would most likely have waited and gotten the console version - because the game feels like a console game so I could as wel play it on a console instead...

Speaking of that, I'm upset because I can't find my Nintendo 64. I can't play Mario, Super Smash Bros., Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or StarCraft 64. It's depressing. :(

That is pretty depressing I agree. I have never seen Starcraft 64 before, is it about the same? What is actually different other than the 64?

Man, that's a bummer DAmico... :(
I have a hard time picturing how Star Craft would function with a controller though...

It's actually quite simple. Though, the commands are different. Instead of the max select being 12, it was bumped up to 18. You can't have your units patrol anymore, though the way point system is the same. The "C" buttons are your group select, so you can only have 4 instead of 10 (which is a downsize, but still workable). The names of some of the abilities get changed; for example, Maelstrom for the Dark Archon is now Paralyze. The Infest Command Center is removed (or, rather, doubled up with Ensnare). Possess has taken the place of Mind Control. And it has a 2-Player feature.
The missions are exactly the same as in StarCraft and Brood War, though, in my opinion, they are harder because of the fact that the controls have been changed around and it's on a Nintendo Controller in the first place, where the controls are often a bit sticky. Either way, it's still a lot of fun; though, it can't go online, obviously.

And, unlike in StarCraft and Brood War (where even if you use cheats to finish a level, it still counts), using acquired cheats (from certain places in certain missions; they are Mega Build [exactly the same as operation cwal], Open Tech Tree [exactly the same as modify the phase variance], All Research [exactly the same as medieval man], Invincible Units [exactly the same as power overwhelming, Unlimited Mana [exactly the same as the gathering], Turn Off Fog of War [exactly the same as black sheep wall; not like war aint what it used to be], and Extra Minerals/Gas [which I believe is the same as using whats mine is mine/breathe deep simultaneously; I don't know for sure because I haven't gotten it yet, not since my data was erased by a glitch at least).

This is why I would not hold my breath even if "Warcraft IV" was announced. It would, I believe be "Warcraft III - BFG Edition", that is enhanced visuals, some over-bloated cut-scenes but basically the same game....perhaps with a few limitations.
