Minecraft's Halloween skin DLC earns over $770K for charity

4J Studios has announced that the 160 Microsoft Point ($2 USD) Halloween skins downloadable content for the Xbox Live Arcade version of Minecraft raised over $770K for charity.

In a tweet, 4J proclaimed, "We are delighted to confirm that the Halloween Skin Pack brought in a total of $770,448 for the charities! Thanks everyone :)"

Said charities are Block by Block, SANDS Lothians, Child's Play, and Macmillan Cancer Support, which will be divvying up the funds raised by the DLC.

4J also revealed that Update 7 will add experience points and animal breeding, and Update 8 features The End, a planet populated by the creepy Endermen, and the planet's Ender Dragon boss.

Minecraft is even more of an obsession on XBLA, from what I hear, even though there's fewer people playing.

Odd that. I wouldn't have thought long term slugging away at creating something would be appealing to what is predominantly the "shoot'n'scoot" mob. Might be a grab of older gamers.

I was more interested in destroying when young, I think I can remember. Build miniature villages in a dry creek bed from twigs and branches and set them on fire, while also building Airfield & Revell WWII fighters and doing the same. Yay!
