The final stages of THQ's bankruptcy seems to be coming on the 22nd January, when Clearlake Capital will be auctioning off the publisher's assets one by one.

Even more intriguing is that Electronic Arts is reportedly very interested in picking up some of THQ's more valuable IPs, which includes Saints Row and Darksiders, not to mention the Obsidian-developed RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth.

THQ hopes to raise $60 million to Clearlake. Stay tuned.

Oh God,first ubisoft now ea,don`t know which is worse, choosing between these two is like choosing which leg to put a working chainsaw through, either one will destroy THQ`s IP`s.

I'm happy to see EA or Ubi take the reigns. As long as it's not bloody Steam-linked I'll be a happy THQ camper.

One too many failed big titles and bad management - usual reasons. According to the Distressed Debt Investing Twitter feed, the THQ auction has been delayed to January 22 in order to allow interested parties more time to get involved. More significantly, the auction will allow THQ to be sold off piecemeal, meaning that companies will be able to bid on and acquire individual IPs and studios (such as Double Fine). It remains possible that THQ could be purchased as a whole, but it seems far more likely at this point that its days are very nearly over.

yes well the retro '70's look didn't sit well with me and I just couldn't buy any game with that logo any more. I'm sure anyone else who survived the '70's, may they rest in pieces, felt the same.
