Highest ranked Xbox 360 gamer resets Black Ops 2 stats, tired of 'abuse'

A Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 player has reset their player stats after suffering a torrent of abuse and DDoS attacks from somewhere within the US. He couldn't stay on Xbox Live more than 10 minutes.

The player known as Retrominano sent a message of the problem to a friend before shortly confirming via Reddit he had reset his stats to hopefully avoid the continued harassment.

Before taking the unfortunate measure of dumping his player stats, Retrominano had tried having his IP changed but the attackers soon pounced again.

Do other top ranking players for Black Ops 2 have need to fear similar attacks? Retrominano is now back to level 1 and it's a disgrace it had to come to that in order to be able to play a game he obviously enjoys. Sadly there's not much Treyarch or Microsoft can do as Retrominano was the one specifically targeted and not the hosting servers.

God, what kind of a loser do you need to be to do something like this? Highest ranked loser probably.

Proof that most players are either kids or idiots,if the guy is better than you at it then improve so you can beat him, don`t do this sort of crap,i hope the asshole(s) who did this gets a huge kick in the teeth for acting like a spoiled brat.

Some people would say being the Highest Ranked Player is sad... I say doing this is far worse.

It happens more often then you would know. It also happened to a Diablo 3 streamer a few months ago (I'm not going to put his name here).

And I have heard similar stories from the gaming community in the past years. This is nothing new and I guess it will get some more attention in the coming weeks from the press because of this new "high-profile" story. In a month, most have forgotten about it.

I do admit there was this one time in Red Orchestra 2, on the big Stalingrad square, one sniper offed me at least 30 times in one game, I got so angry I probably would have used this particular tactic if I had a button for it at the time. But you must be really retarded to actually DO it, and persistently so.

Sadly people can pretty much get away with this kind of abuse. Most countries laws are woefully lacking regarding cyber-crime. If the dbags were taking players' money, then the law would be involved and if they kept doing it, they'd get busted. Denial of service just doesn't get the attention that it should.
