Team 17 has confirmed to VG247 that an Alien Breed remake is currently in the works, and is planned for release sometime next year, although no other details will be revealed until a later date.

Alien Breed is the first in a series of science fiction games played in the form of a top-down shooter for one or two players. It was released in 1991 by Team17 for the Commodore Amiga and later in 1993 for MS-DOS.

The game was said to be unofficially based on the Alien films, and played very much like Chaos Engine (Amiga, MegaDrive) and Gauntlet (Master System, Mega Drive, Atari etc..)

Likely platforms are PS3 and Xbox 360.

Looks good for console. Played this one on PC back in the day and it was a lot of fun. If you enjoyed it on PC, try the isometric, semi-3D "Shadow Grounds" (on PC, yay). Console gamers, accustomed to flashy graphics might not take to this too kindly.
