Irrational has announced the system specs for the PC version of BioShock Infinite, and also detailed the graphic options and controller specs.

While the PC controls will feature fine tuning controls, Irrational promises that console controllers will be fully supported. This follows the complaints regarding the original BioShock's initial lack of support:

There are three separate controller layouts (Default, Marksman, and Retro), each of which support loads of configuration options. You can tweak aim assist, sensitivity, vibration, and look inversion. Are you a left-handed player? Go ahead and revel in your genetic superiority because all controller layouts support multiple analog-stick configurations: Default (Look on right stick, Move on left), Southpaw (opposite of Default), Legacy (for those GoldenEye fans), and Legacy Southpaw. And for those who truly yearn for an old-school feel, or who use special controllers for medical reasons, we even let you swap the left or right analog stick with the D-pad.

As for graphic options, Irrational promises a host of settings:

We have six different graphics presets, from “Very Low” to “Ultra,” providing a wide range of quality-versus-performance options. Gamers who want to tweak those further can switch to a Custom configuration, which gives you control over anti-aliasing, texture detail, texture filtering, dynamic shadows, post-processing, light shafts, ambient occlusion, and object level of detail. Many of these options have setting levels that are only available under DX11.

Minimum system requirements:

* OS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit
* Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon X2 2.7 GHz
* Memory: 2 GB
* Hard Drive: 20 GB free
* Video Card: DirectX10 Compatible ATI Radeon HD 3870 / NVIDIA 8800 GT / Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics
* Video Card Memory: 512 MB
* Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended system requirements:

* OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64-bit
* Processor: Quad Core Processor
* Memory: 4 GB
* Hard Drive: 30 GB free
* Video Card: DirectX11 Compatible, AMD Radeon HD 6950 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
* Video Card Memory: 1024 MB
* Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

BioShock Infinite is due to be released on the 26th March for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

To hell with the controller support,we are PC gamers for crying out loud,besides this is a shooter,you`re really telling me someone would play this game with a controller instead of mouse and keyboard?

There are some people that actually prefer the controller for whatever reason, if nothing else people can have their PC's connected to the TV.

You can still use a mouse and keyboard unless they want to sit on the couch while playing in which case get off the PC market,we don`t want you.

PC games get mods so it makes sense to get the PC version of all the games that are multiplatform, some of those games play the best with a controller.
I don't mind people having options, enabling a controller for a game that was designed with a controller in mind from the start makes perfect sense. As long as that's not the only option of course :)

In BioShock's case, I actually prefer controller support to keyboard/mouse.

Why on earth would any sane person use a controller instead of the fine precision of KB+M? Never understand the allure of using a controller for the PC besides a joystick, which is genre-dedicated.
*mutter, mutter*...these kids today...

Because of the plasmid/weapon selection and firing, that's why.

Easily done on a Logitech MX-518, as I did with the first "BioShock".
Next....

No. I don't buy fancy mice just to play one game. I grew up with keyboard/mouse since the FPS was invented in 1992 (and that was keyboard, NO mouse). BioShock is simply better with a controller, IMO.

One game? I use the extra buttons for all FPS's and this increases reaction time x3 at least (something important for a man with slowing reflexes). Couldn't imagine playing with anything less.
Actually, it's so long ago now that I don't even remember buying my first mouse. I think I bought a joystick before a mouse (specifically to play "X-Wing" and "Aces of the Pacific").
I have the original XBox (bought it cheap a few years back to play a few "MK" title an the like against my son) and having owned a PS years before, I have to say I loathe the layout of the XB controller. Nothing intuitive about it. It's just different from the PS controller for the sake of being different.

Recommended Requirements used to be a lot lower than nowadays. A couple of years ago, when you had a 600€ gaming PC, you'd make the recommended for sure. Now you're not even close.

Sure you can, that's just enough to reach the above recommended setting.
You don't need an i7 system, any quad will do just fine.

Choice is the backbone of why the PC is the best platform for games, ESPECIALLY since Steam's Big Picture Mode got added. I prefer some games for pad support. First-person titles I'll always choose M+K, but third-person titles with regular melee combat (Batman, Darksiders) I'll always choose the button-mashing of my wired Xbox controller... used on PC.
