Disney Interactive has announced a new open world title called Disney Infinity, where players can engage in several "worlds" among popular Disney properties. The game is due to be released on multiple platforms this coming Summer 2013, including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

The game seems to use the same figurine mechanic as Activision's Skylanders game.

Gamers can explore the worlds of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles and Monsters University, as Captain Jack Sparrow, Mr. Incredible or Sulley, who investigate such lands as Halloween Town. In each world, players can battle enemies, solve puzzles, overcome obstacles and complete a variety of other unique quests. The game also allows four player co-op.

Disney Infinity encourages creativity with the "Toy Box", where players can mix up the game's assets (including virtual toys, characters, buildings, weapons, and gadgets) to create their own game and share it with friends.
