Catzilla video "spread widely without anyone noticing it's a PC benchmark"

Datura's creator, director Michal 'Bonzaj' Staniszewski, has put together a benchmark for computer graphics. Its content however tends to enrapture its audience as people see it as an anime short.

What could possibly be some stupendously awesome about it? Cats. To be specific a Godzilla-like cat that shoots friggin' laser beams from its eyes. It "brings so much fun to people."

This Catzilla was developed purely as a test for PCs to see what a rig was capable of, but it "spread widely without anyone noticing it's a PC benchmark", said Staniszewski.

"It just brings so much fun to people," he said. "I will remember that when designing our next game." A beta of the Catzilla benchmark is available via the official allbenchmark website. You may never look at a cat the same way again.

Cool, much more creative than Futuremark's Vantage and no doubt a heckuva lot cheaper.
