The Writer's Guild of America only recently included videogames for its writing awards, and the Guild has announced its nominees for the year of 2012.

The nominees are:

* 007 Legends, Written By Bruce Feirstein; Activision
* Assassin's Creed III, Story By Alex Hutchinson, Corey May, Matt Turner; Multiplayer Story By Richard Farrese, Jeffrey Yohalem; Lead Scriptwriter Corey May; Scriptwriter Nicholas Grimwood, Russell Lees, Matt Turner, Danny Wallace, Ceri Young; Ubisoft
* Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Scriptwriting by Richard Farrese, Jill Murray; Ubisoft
* Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Writing Consultant Marv Wolfman; Disney Interactive Studios
* Halo 4, Narrative Design Christopher Schlerf; Microsoft Studios
* Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Written By John Garvin; Sony Computer Entertainment America

The qualifications for the award is that the game had to have been released between December 1, 2011 and November 30, 2012.

The WGA, however, has picked some peculiar games for nomination. Three of the titles, 007 Legends, Epic Mickey 2 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss were roundly criticized for their bad writing, and the omission of The Walking Dead by Telltale is eyebrow raising, to say the least.

"AC III" I'm not too sure about as having perused the novel at length, I'm not impressed. Basing that game more on say Harold Coyle's hero /anti-hero from "Savage Wilderness" would have been a better move.
"HALO 4"....hmmmm.

Assassin's Creed 3 or Uncharted will be the best choice, the other games are not that great! No Far Cry 3 is rather odd.

It was a good premise, and the initial writer's outline was no doubt excellent, but was dreadfully implemented. It was supposed to tie in wit the 50th Anniversary Collection release, not simply "Skyfall".
