UbiSoft has announced that the first episode of a three-part alternate history storyline The Tyranny of King Washington for Assassin's Creed 3 will be arriving on the 19th February. The DLC posits a "what if?" scenario in which George Washington went mad and made himself the King of the United States.

The three episodes are available for free to those who own a Season Pass. The first chapter, titled "Infamy" costs 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99 USD.)

No, now you don't mess with History. That's just not on.
Sure I like alternative scenarios in my Histrionically-based Strategy titles (the "What If" scenarios in John Tiller's Battleground series are great) but they are based on alternative decisions/actions/events. What if a general had decided to do this and not that? What if Grouchy had arrived at Waterloo instead of trailing behind Blucher and missing the fight? Even making a game ;like "Wargame: European Escalation" and "World in Conflict" based on the concept of "What if WWIII really went down in the 1980's" is cool by me?

But Washington as an evil Monarch, and having to pay for it? C'mon...

The thing is, you know history: the US citizens and leaders WANTED George Washington to be King. He refused. But what if he hadn't?

Quite right, Jonah though there are some that still dispute this.
It is said that some dedicated (perhaps enamoured) officers, who served under Washington, wanted him to accept a kingship. Washington, supposedly, flatly refused reminding them that is exactly what they fought for to get away from. He wanted people to vote on who should be be the leaders of the new Country. The fact that he sought only two terms is evidence of that. When he was President there was no limit on the number of terms a President could serve. If he had wanted to be King he could have just run for re-election every four years, he probably would've won every time.

Washington it must be remembered was quite the average leader, and during the Wilderness Campaign where he was made a Colonel many men under his command deserted citing him as a fearful and overly-cautious commander, and not for the right reasons. In fact his name is barely a blip in that part of America's history.
During the Revolution his command was challenged many times, but there were simply no more promising takers for the position. If he had not crossed the frozen Delaware on Christmas night in 1776, to attack and defeat the Hessians under Johann Rall at Trenton. It was his most famous, and I must admit audacious action in the whole campaign. if he had not, the Revolution would have most probably failed at that point.
All-in-all, Washington, and I know I'm 'attacking' a folk hero, was a quite average man with average talents and mediocre political talents.

Then again, never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn, so enjoy this rather strange scenario. It actually might be quite fun.

The man was also 6'3" and striking. Back then, 6'3" was a giant.
