Normand Corbeil, the composer of the Heavy Rain soundtrack, passed away at the age of 56, succumbing to the pancreatic cancer which he'd been diagnosed with on the 15th August, 2012.

Corbeil's son announced the death on NeoGAF, stating "My father, Normand Corbeil, 56, passed away today at 2:56 PM. He was a great composer and an amazing dad... I am in shock." He also changed his forum signature to read, "- Dad, 56, diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer August 15, 2012. - Dad passed away January 25, 2013 at 2:56 PM."

A truly dreadful way to go, and do go so young. At least his talent had been realised and will always be there for all to appreciate.

Pancreatic is the worst cancer. It's basically a death sentence of less than half a year.

Well it's not the worst. I've worked in several cancer units and the worst I've seen is Penis cancer (that is just so horrific for the patient and you just wish their hearts would fail), but the treatment and life expectancy for Pancreatic is painful and short respectively as you say Jonah.
The most painful is a toss-up between Bone and Stomach (Bone gets my vote - there's virtually no pain relief for it).
Pancreatic Cancer - alcohol drinkers beware as you're most at risk, on top of getting Buccal (or mouth) cancer to go with it.
