Those holy wars are about to get a lot more religiousy, as Paradox announce The Old Gods want in on the fight for souls too. It also brings a slew of "widely requested features" to the game as well.
The team gives us another 200 years on the books, as we get a new starting point of 867 AD. It brings a lot of paganism back, gives rebels a leader, and even recruits landless adventurers.
We can loot and burn settlements, which might cheer up generally warlike people. Paradox also lets us try our hand at playing as the Heathens, and seeing if you can survive.
A new UI is introduced with The Old Gods, and we can declare our intentions to invade lands which might draw these new adventurers to our cause. "Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods lets players step into the boots of a pagan chieftain, approaching the brutal backstabbing world of Crusader Kings through invasion, adventure, and holy war," they say.
Restore the Old Gods to prominence through sacrifice and divination, or force the pagans to convert through new missionary missions
