German games publisher rondomedia has announced a new firefighting simulator Rescue 2013 - Everyday Heroes, which is being developed by Finnish studio Fragment Productions. The game is due to be released in Q2 2013.

Rescue 2013, which also features management and light roleplaying elements, puts the players in the role of the head of a fire department. They will be tasked with both administrative duties including hiring and firing, as well as maintaining staff readiness and equipment maintenance.

They'll also get to drive the firetruck to the scene of an emergency and co-ordinate firefighting and rescue efforts. Members of the team under the player have their own character traits and background story; there are 40 unique firefighters in the game.

Rescue 2013 features three different gameplay modes, including management mode, action mode and freeplay mode. It will also feature an extensive tutorial, which will give players a comprehensive step‐by‐step introduction through the parameters of the game and their interconnections.

Looks the same as "Emergency 2013", in fact EXACTLY the same. Different Developers, same game. Kind of makes me scratch my head as to why we need two of these, though I will be interested in seeing the Action Mode played out as well as the so-called RPG elements.

I had to check to make sure this wasn't Emergency 2013.

I'm guessing the Action mode removes all the management and sim aspects and just has you driving the fire truck and performing the firefighting and rescues.

Perhaps "Emergency 2013"-Lite, with a focus on action and levelling-up characters. Might be worth looking at. At least it could be a nice break from puzzle-solving the strategies of "Emergency 2013", even though they are better than "Emergency 2012" (which was often hit and miss).

Nah, this kind of games have been around for ages.
Not my thing though so I don't remember ever playing them.
