Capcom revises down DmC: Devil May Cry sales by 800k

The initial target for sales had been 2 million units for Ninja Theory's DmC: Devil May Cry by the end of this fiscal year for Capcom, but that looks most unlikely as the publisher drops it to 1.2 million.

So far around one million has been shipped. Despite receiving a top spot in charts, DmC has failed to at least match sales figures for Devil May Cry 4 at launch, achieving just a third in the UK.

PC sales aren't included in the Capcom spread sheet of misery. The new DmC also sold less than half of Devil May Cry 4 during launch week in Japan. Trouble ahead?

Well it was a risk changing the character (dyeing his hair black, making him a teenager) and environment to a more Western theme, and might not be one they will want to take again if the figures don't improve.

Sales on PC should matter...
Good game 9/10 for me!

Perhaps, but it was quite heavily pirated as are most games these days. Then again, many of the pirates (the term doesn't actually fit those that simply download the pirated game) do actually go on to purchase games seeing the illegal download more as an extended demo. So that's a good thing.

Here`s to hoping they do like they did to DMC 2 and shove this under the rug and proceed to do DMC 5 with the original cast. While this DMC is a good game it is by no means as good as the previous one,i can overlook the incredibly unfaithful character changes(Vergil does NOT use guns,i don`t care what version he is) but the gameplay itself is just not as good as the previous titles and while Ninja Theory did improve the platforming there is too much of that,i wanna kill demons not jump around and the enemies that can only be harmed by one type of weapon? Dumbest idea ever, this means making combos off of them is far too hard and very limited, there are tons of DMC 3 and 4 combo vids on youtube but this type of enemy means we won`t have many combos done on them.

To many a long story short(too late)this new one is just not as good as previous titles, get the old team back on this project Capcom.

I really wonder how Capcom didn't learn the first time with DMC 2.

People don't want the combat to be simplified and they don't want the main character (Dante) to be brooding or have an "attitude."

DMC 3 went for more complex combat and a more happy-go-lucky, comic relief Dante and it worked wonders. DMC3 demolished DMC2 in sales and acclaim.
