During Ubisoft's FY 2012-13 Q3 conference call, it was revealed that the publisher is planning to release a new Assassin's Creed game for 2013/14, created by a new team and will be set in a new time period.

The publisher promises that this will be another major leap for the franchise, but we'll have to wait for more details soon.

"New time period" doesn't necessarily equate too "new ancestor". In fact, until we know what they define as a "time period", this tells us nothing really. IMO, the Napoleonic Wars were in a different 'time period' to the American Revolution...

Damn thing's all over the place. I've long lost track of what's what in this series. Next one I'd like to see set in London, around the time of Sherlock Holmes. In fact to really throw the cat in with the pigeons, they could make him a cousin....or half-brother.

Honestly if they can make the game as good as the AC 2 series,i`d still buy them, they do have great stories after all.

Yeah well "AC III" was made to satisfy the American public, just as CA did with "ETW" and in doing so generated a healthy profit. Smart move, but not all that popular with anyone not interested in the period.

I thought so too but actually they depicted the americans as assholes who don`t want to pay their debts, that was a bold move and i was pleasantly surprised by it.

Indeed and i applaud them for not sucking up to the americans as i originally believed,we need more devs to act like this.

I can see a game set in London being quite feasible. If you read Forsaken, you can see that there is a lot of backstory to be exploited in that setting. As for the presentation of Loyalists and/or Colonials in-game, I feel the new DLC adequately balances the books regarding the objections felt by certain fans.

I'm betting early Roman Empire, or colonising the moons of Jupiter. Only choices that make sense.

Oh, or the American Civil War. They might go that way.

You need to remember it must contain tall buildings, landmarks, or other objects so I believe the Moon might be out. As for Rome - same thing goes really unless the hero goes out into the forests of Germania as well Rome itself (which was quite small until the latter era).

The American Civil war I'd be up for (personal bias as I love that period, despite the carnage and heartache). True courage on display mixed with extremely violent clashes. Yet towards the end, with the advent of trench warfare it might slow down some.

However the English Civil War, the bloodiest war in Britain's history with more British casualties than any other war, would include London and other major cities. Hmmm....no. A later period in London's history would work better, say Victorian times, as you'd have all the new inventions and the secret societies to use and with/against.
You may be sent by the First Lord of the Treasury (known after 1905 as the Prime Minister) on a mission to track down Jack The Ripper:)
