Aliens Colonial Marines "primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios"

The vast majority of Aliens: Colonial Marines wasn't built by Gearbox, an ex-dev claims. Instead, it appears the title was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, who have previously worked on Section 8: Prejudice and FEAR expansions.

"Hate to say it, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for Colonial Marines," the ex-dev wrote in 2012. "I used to work at Gearbox, and the development of that game has been a total train wreck, going on what, six years now?"

"Gearbox isn't even making the game, except for the multiplayer. Primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, which has a less than stellar past."

The author of the comment also said he is one of the founders of Armature Studios, which narrows it down to Mark Pacini, Todd Keller or Jack Mathews.

These comments appear to contradict Randy Pitchford, who previously suggested 80% of the game was completed at Gearbox.

Um dude Section 8:Prejudice was really good so yeah i do have some hopes for this game, this sounds like Gearbox trying to cover it`s ass should the game fail.

I wonder why they outsourced this in the first place.

Well, wasn't this said to be a rumour and that Gearbox really had taken over it completely and seems to have made this years practical fiasco of things... I could have spent that money on way better things...

And the excuses for this dismal failure begin. Randy Pitchford claimed that as "DNF" was so badly bashed, this game was supposed to prove the critics wrong. Well it hasn't and with an average of 4/10, it sits right alongside The Duke.

What angers me most is the reviews embargo placed on the press until launch. Reviews, these days, are supposed to give gamers the option of buying or not buying, pre-ordering or not pre-ordering. In the days of print-only it's understandable that reviews came out after the launch, but not now.

Pure fraudulence on the part of Gearbox, hyping this to be a great game, when it is below average at best!

PS. if you live in the EU, you can now get a full refund from Steam for this pile of trash:

Alas, I bought mine via a retailer so the hasslehardly seems worth it and so far - the game isn't worse than the shooter you can download from Android. So I think I will give it some more time. I can't say it is good - but it doesn't outright suck - yet.. There are simply a lot of design choices that I hate - but which have been teh norm for console gaming design and hence PC port gaming design for some time. So to just saw it off at the knee-caps shows more of the trouble of finally waking up and judging games for what they are and not for what is only released and also starting to question the quality of the game but also gaming experience and immersion.
That should have been done years ago IMO.
Still, I did finish Duke Nukem - and ther eare plenty of games receiving higher scores I didn't bother to finish at all...

The point is, would you $80-100 for the game (that's what Steam is asking ANZ gamers to do)? That doesn't even include the Season Pass, which proves the game is aimed at MP. I can't forgive the fact that they have left out "The Hoard" mode and are selling it as expensive DLC. That's bullcrap, I'm sorry.

Well, I have now come to the end with A:CM and turned to my retailer and asked for a refund, or at least a written "Sorry that we sold that crap". I added some of the documented lies from Gearbox promotions. Just to wait and see.
The game is actually horrible, lacking all sense of feeling and the game wouldn't even be consider that good even on Android! Well, maybe on Android...

This is a link from ChosenOne, Wolfy. Check out how the game looked on PC while in development, compared with how it now looks. Incredibly disappointing how consoles affect final releases.

The new update takes care of the lagging textures, anyway, i began the SP yesterday and after playing it for a while i must say its defenitly an average game, there are some parts that are good but its just a single playtrough and that will be it.Its also annoying that you can 't pick up the ammo automaticly when walking over it.
Co-op is available but not very interesting, its mostly getting in each other way
Could have been a great game, but its average.
