The Darkness 2 developer Digital Extremes is boldly working on the final frontier, and the fruits of their interstellar labour will arrive nearer April's end this year, announce Namco Bandai.

The publisher has also just released a new trailer entitled 'Salvation'. It's promised to be an "unprecedented co-op experience" with a full original story starring Kirk and Spock.

Pre-orders receive the Elite Officer Pack unlocking exclusive items and outfits for the duo. Star Trek releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC April 23rd in the US, 26th in EU.

I hope this does well so we get even more Trek games in the future :)

I'm not pre-ordering anything though, the potential for fail is big with this one.

Cautiously looking forward to it, but no clue why it's just called "Star Trek" which is just immensely confusing (but then I said that about the movie too).

Digital Extremes did a good job with The Darkness II at least, so I'm hopeful. Won't be the greatest game ever or anything, but fun.
