Aliens: Colonial Marines receives updates across all formats

Gearbox has released a series of updates for all versions of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The long-awaited game, which has struggled through the review process, has received a number of general, single-player and multiplayer improvements.

Users can view the patch notes for the PC update here, Xbox 360 here and PS3 here.

Various performance and interface issues will be resolved, with Gearbox also eliminating problems from the campaign. Useless NPCs, fixed recovery for co-op partners and a host of other mistakes should be corrected.

Has Gearbox let the Alien franchise down with A: CM? Will there ever be a decent Xenomorph-based game on modern tech? I wouldn't count on it.

Lagging textures and redneck voices take the spirit of this game slightly away, its not bad,but defenitly not a top game!

Fox needs to withdraw the licence for a bit and wait for someone who has talent and the ability to make a decent "Alien" game to approach them. At least take it out of Gearbox's hands, a developer/publisher for whom I have lost all respect.
If you removed the "Aliens" setting from this game, would anyone still be rallying around it's limp, shredded flag?

I read an in-depth review. It sounds pretty clear that, even if they cleaned up all the bugs and tuned up the story, and tightened up the action, then it would still be kinda poor.

Seven years in the making, but looks like it should have been released 4 years ago. What have they been doing all this time?

To see what it could have been and what it is - what's the excuse? I know the Demo was run on a PC, but Hell have consoles really ruined it for all of us that much? Obviously so.
Thanks Chosen.

"Optimizing" for consoles did the thing. Damn I'm starting to hate consoles...

Way ahead of you. Consoles have destroyed games. As I've said before, imagine where we'd be now without consoles.

I have actually seen photos of a PC built with an 80 Core CPU and a 180cm round monitor. Forget the specs for the GPU, but even that was two years ago.

Not raeally the consoles fault - the console version is as you may see in the end really REALLY bad. There are no excuses: Gearbox lied through their teeth when it comes to PR this game and they delivered a product sub-quality of Duke Nukem. Then we knew that Duke would be rubbish, more or less, but during the talks regarding Aliens Colonial Marines, they have said it would get top priority, full support, a team that loves the franchise and all the best possible treatment. It is out there on so many videologs that Gearbox have thrashed whatever good reputation they ever had.
They make EA and Activision appear saint-like in comparison.

Consoles have not only destroyed the games, but have also ruined/spoiled/twisted new generations of gamers.

Wow that is so lame, wonder if i should blacklist Gearbox now, thankfully i didn`t buy the game so i didn`t get screwed but this sort of stunt is unacceptable especially since gearbox is a big team and had a publisher for the game.

The new update takes care of the lagging textures, anyway, i began the SP yesterday and after playing it for a while i must say its defenitly an average game, there are some parts that are good but its just a single playtrough and that will be it.Its also annoying that you can 't pick up the ammo automaticly when walking over it.
Co-op is available but not very interesting, its mostly getting in each other way
Could have been a great game, but its average.

Explains quite a fair bit. Randy Pitchford is actively blocking anyone calling him a "liar" on Twitter, which he is, but this has to be the worst case of fraud by a Developer.
Something will come of this, as Sega itself was deceived. In fact they were planning on taking Gearbox to court just prior to it's rushed release.

By the way, the WiiU version - horrible, but at least they have time to cancel, not that too many punters are having trouble getting a refund now.
If you enjoyed the game, good on you Heno. You're one of the very few.

For the rest; avoid like the plague until a bargain basement price. Then only play if you dare (or you're very bloody drunk).

I have no doubt "Brothers in Arms: Furious 4" will be just as bad.

Very short SP campaign, just let the marines kill everything for you and you walk around like an idiot hoping there is more to it but its not.
As for the new Brothers in Arms i fear the worst too.
