Heh. They're testing the feed. You can see them building the set.

Why the age restriction?
Are they planning to show us some boobies and/or violence?

Microsoft would start their conference with Gears of War 4 and say "check this shit out!"

The PSN of 2013 does sound exactly like the Xbox Live of 2005.

So, two hours and not a single sneak peek of what the console will actually look like? That's my evening wasted.

Glad I didn't watch it then :)

So didn't get to see the actual machine? How silly :/

Pad looks good though, and a couple of nice features.

I don't see why people are so hung-up on what the console actually looks like - the half-hour they spent talking about specs and what it can actually DO was way, way more useful.

I wasn't expecting to see the console or even get a date/price at this thing, as it's early days still. Overall I was impressed with what I saw and heard, but it did go on a bit too long.

Well it's just that whne you're presenting a product, you sort of are expected to show it off. I mean they could showcase the pad just fine, it's not unreasonable to show a prototype model of the actual console.

Especially considering it would take no extra time to just leave one there on a little stand :)

I do agree that it's not really important, the rest is much more interesting. I just thought it's silly.

400 GBP for a PS4? Yikes.

I think it's better to wait for a year in order to see how well PS4 handles and for a price drop.

For £400 I'll probably get one on launch, there's talks of it costing £300, but I don't think it'll be that low.

Just keep in mind that you can't play any of your old PS3 games without the streaming service, which is definitely not going to be free....not to mention you're streaming, which has it's own issues.

It's something that used to happen back in the day, but we've just forgotten I think. The SNES couldn't play NES games for example :)

True, but times are changing and with digital distribution there are no more excuses regarding this. If I own the game on one system and the SAME game works on the new system I should have the ability to play that game at no extra cost to me, I already paid for that content.

"HD" re-releases are a different thing obviously.

Sure, but that didn't cost £400 and didn't suffer from a potentially poor lineup of games to start with :)

It does suck, but you could always keep your old console. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if making a console backwards compatible limits it in some way. It's like all those 90's PC games that no longer work on modern set-ups without help, as some of the tech used to run them is outdated and not used anymore.

What Sony need to do is move to a Steam like set-up so you could register any previoulsy purchsed PS3 & PS2 games to your account, so you could then stream them over Gaikai for free instead of having to pay for it again.

Yeah, using a barcode would be something that's doable. People do that with their phones. I think that's a way forward.
